The Fait main exhibition presents a variation on the theme of the hand, based on a selection of editions and works from the Frac’s collection.
With a vast range of actions, the hand is the primary organ that comes into contact with the materials that make up our immediate environment. It also provides clues about its owner—age, profession, health. The works gathered in this exhibition, designed for middle school students in Loire-Atlantique, can be seen as subtle portraits of the artists themselves, but also of the world around them. The hand is portrayed as a tool, a means of communication, an extension of the mind. But does the value of a work lie solely in its “handmade” status? In a time when technical virtuosity is no longer the primary goal of artists, how does the autographic dimension manifest itself in contemporary creation?
This project was developed in partnership with Mr. Bertrand Charles, visual arts teacher.
The exhibition is presented in the school gallery, which is part of the educational gallery network InSitu.
