Every day is a birth
Zhu Hong
Zhu Hong explores the representation of water through drawing and painting. She is interested in its colors and effects, which she reveals through a myriad of pencil and brush strokes.
Borrowed from art history, photography, or architecture, what the artist depicts belongs to the realm of the fleeting. Paradoxically, she creates works that resist disclosure and immediacy, playing with the subtle boundaries of the visible.
For this exhibition, Zhu Hong is creating a large site-specific painting conceived in resonance with the architecture and landscape of the Galerie Loire at the Théâtre Le Dôme. Her new works also reflect her exploration of the banks of the Saumurois, presented in dialogue with a selection of five works from the Frac des Pays de la Loire collection.
Every day is a birth is an exhibition co-produced by the Department of Maine-et-Loire, the Regional Contemporary Art Fund (Frac) of Pays de la Loire, and Saumur Val de Loire, as part of Prenez l’Art!, the contemporary art season in Anjou.
